Edinburgh has one of the most beautiful cityscapes in the world with Scotland's most famous castle dominating the skyline. Known affectionately as 'Auld Reekie' when in the late 18th century some 400 illicit stills went undetected due to the thick smoke that filled the city! Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the heart of the city combines the medieval Old Town and the Georgian New Town.
